Focus Only On The Next Step

What kinds of superpowers or magical abilities do you wish you could have? Often times we set goals for ourselves that might seem like we have to climb a mountain to get there. When we are standing on the ground and looking up, the mountain might seem impossible to climb, so we might give up without even trying. What might be a mountain you’re trying to climb? For example, it could be running a marathon, finishing all your homework, or finishing your chores. The way we can climb the mountain is by climbing one step at a time. Focus only on the next step. What is the next step you need to take to get you just a tiny bit closer to the top? Remember how much heroes practice every day to get to where they are. Imagine your favorite hero or character practicing, feeling frustrated at times, but continuing to practice. That’s exactly what you are doing. And that means that sometimes you might take the wrong step, but that’s okay! You are not starting over from the beginning. You just have to go back to a previous step and then try another one. What can you remind yourself of when you feel like giving up? Visualize your success to remind you what you are fighting for. Imagine yourself succeeding.

Easy For You To Say

Easy For You To Say

What would that be like? No matter what, don’t ever give up on what is truly important to you. Don’t wait for your life to be over to try it out. Take one small step up, just climb up a quarter of an inch and keep going! Bruce Wayne trained for many years to become Batman, and Harry Potter and his friends spend many years studying magic before they are able to do it well. Sometimes we have goals that seem like we have to climb a mountain to get there. For example, cleaning our room or doing homework might seem like an impossible goal when we have a lot of work to do. See if you can draw a tall mountain and draw a tiny picture of yourself standing at the bottom of it. The mountain stands for the task that you need to complete. Looking at it this way, it might seem like climbing the mountain is impossible. Now, draw steps that go up the mountain. All you have to do is to go up one step. Looking at your task this way can make it feel easier. No matter what, don’t ever give up on what is truly important to you.

Don't You Want To Be There?

Take one small step up. Just climb up one step and keep going! He has the same fears, anxieties, thoughts, and feelings as you, and he is thinking about giving up. Please write him an encouraging letter of support, speaking from your own experience, to help him get through it. The following two activities invite clients to consider small steps toward altruistic actions that can align with their sense of purpose. Well, to start, it means standing for something, it means remembering your sense of purpose, such as helping people, standing up for what you believe in, such as equality, peace, or justice. At first she thought she was alone in this experience but when she started paying attention to the bullying patterns, she realized that a number of other kids in her school were also being bullied. In order to stand up for the kids that were bullied, Juanita posted an encouraging note on the locker of all the kids in her school, spreading messages of care and kindness. What’s a small kind thing you can do or say to someone today that allows you to speak up or show up for what you believe in? Remember, the action doesn’t have to be a big one, but it can make a big difference for someone else. Write down one or two ideas of what you might be able to do today to speak up or show up. It’s okay if other people don’t agree with you or don’t share your views. Remember what it is for, remember the big picture, and remember that it all starts with small steps. Have you ever wondered what you would do if you had certain superpowers or magical abilities? Have you thought what you might do if you could help other people? Well, here is your chance.

Could It Be Magic?

Your experiences and your abilities might be exactly what someone else really needs right now. This is your journey, your adventure, and your call to action. You are the only one who can do this. What are some of the steps that you can take to be your very own version of a superhero? What would you do with those magical abilities or superpowers? Now, imagine yourself having these superpowers. Draw yourself as a superhero doing powerful or heroic things, like facing your fears and helping your family and your friends. To help clients understand the depth of their resilience, I like to use the Iceberg activity. To an outside observer, it seems like a small piece of ice in the middle of the ocean. But if we are able to see below the iceberg’s surface, we see its might and depth. This might include your thoughts, your looks, or your external achievements or setbacks. The depth of the iceberg represents what you have been through, such as your pain, your trauma, and what you have already survived as your resilience. It also represents what you stand for, such as your courage, your dedication to help others, or your commitment to good for this world. Next to the tip of the iceberg, write down some words that people might see on the surface. Next to the depth of the iceberg, write down words that represent your strength, your struggles, your experiences, and your core values. You are stronger than you might realize. Your roots run deeper than the surface level might allow you or anyone else to see at the moment.
