What On Earth Would Make Someone A Nonlearner?

How many skilled computer programmers declare to a woman in a bar that they’re a genius computer programmer? What on earth would make someone a nonlearner? Everyone is born with an intense drive to learn. Infants stretch their skills daily. Not just ordinary skills, but the most difficult tasks of a lifetime, like learning to walk and talk. They never decide it’s too hard or not worth the effort. Babies don’t worry about making mistakes or humiliating themselves. They walk, they fall, they get up. They just barge forward. What could put an end to this exuberant learning? As soon as children become able to evaluate themselves, some of them become afraid of challenges. They become afraid of not being smart. I have studied thousands of people from preschoolers on, and it’s breathtaking how many reject an opportunity to learn. It’s a pleasant coincidence that the Magician is at the top of the Red Knight Model. Mythologically, the Magician lives isolated from the world high up in his tall ivory tower.

Happy Days Are Here Again

Happy Days Are Here Again

Undisturbed by the trials and tribulations of the world, he can explore, experiment, invent and discover the secrets of the world. The Magician is the archetype responsible for learning new skills, and the mastery of technology. In ancient times, that technology included methods of communication with the spirit world, sophisticated weaponry, and cures for the human body. The world is filled with men who are highly effective at channelling their inner Magician, from physicists, engineers, and computer scientists to analytical psychologists, doctors, and stockbrokers. Your thirst for knowledge, your belief that you can learn and change, is inspired by the intellectual confidence of the Magician within. Men who lack access to their Magician would never have searched for and discovered Red Knight. How it is now, how they are now, is how it’s always been and how it always will be. Growth orientated people on the other hand see life as one never ending process of growth, transformation and learning. They are never finished. They are quite literally either growing or dying. Bringing our archetype model into the equation, it’s quite clear to see that this distinction is the categorisation of people with access and without access to their archetype. Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.

Sailing To The Moon

All learning, development, transformation and mastery is the domain of the Magician. Anyone who gains mastery of a skill does so with the help of his Magician. This is why footballers, athletes, musicians, artists, actors, get so much attention from women. Anyone who displays mastery of a craft will always turn the heads of women. This is also why women are often attracted to older men. My friend Marcus once told me a story that perfectly demonstrates the power of the Magician. He’s confident, bold, charismatic, and is always the life and soul of any party. One time, he went on an unofficial double date with a friend of ours called Dan and two stunning Swedish women. It turned out during the date that one of the women had a boyfriend, so when they ended up back at Dan’s apartment, it was unclear what was going to happen. Marcus and Dan were friends, so although they weren’t locking antlers to win the remaining single woman, they both really liked her and wanted to put their best foot forward to see what would happen. Dan, unfortunately, was no match for Marcus’ charisma and conversation skills. Dan had been playing piano ever since he was a kid, and even though he would tell us that he didn’t practice enough he, in reality, played beautifully.

The World Keeps On Turning

And play beautifully he did. Moments later the woman appeared behind him, entranced. Marcus tried his best to keep the woman’s attention, but there was nothing he could do. The Magician was so strong in Dan that it was Marcus who, at that moment, was the one completely outgunned. By the end of the evening, the woman chose Dan. If you don’t play an instrument, don’t worry. It doesn’t really matter too much what the skill is. I knew a guy who used to be amazing at Guitar Hero, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and foam sword fighting. I knew another guy who was a beautiful writer. Another guy was a skillful poker player. They stood out, not because of the particular skill, but because they owned their mastery. They declared with confidence how much they loved what they did. They displayed their Magician to the world for all to see. Men have been led to believe that some skills are cool, and others aren’t, but it’s all a lie. Expression of the Magician is expression of the Magician, and the Magician is a major aspect of the masculine psyche and an incredibly powerful masculine archetype. But that expression is neutralised if the woman sees that you are ashamed of the skill you have mastered. The master of a skill should declare it to the world proudly. So in a way, the Magician is never truly with you in the present moment. He is always in his own dream world solving problems, exploring the unknown, envisioning the future, seeking more knowledge. The Magician is a terrible party guest. He’d be the one in the corner not talking to anyone, focusing all of his attention on his phone. This means anyone channelling the Magician alone has ideas and plans that may never amount to anything. He is nothing more than a passive dreamer. With women, this man has ambitions. He knows he’s not satisfied with the kinds of women he currently attracts and spends a great deal of time fantasising about all the things he’s going to do to get the woman of his dreams. That is the result of the Magician’s desire to discover new technology, and learn new secret knowledge. The question is whether or not you can gain access to the archetypes that turn this knowledge into action.
