Spiritual Practises Can Remind Us Of Our Higher Selves
As we look up, we connect with the wonder of the night skies and we may get a different sense of our small part in this extraordinary universe. We can use the moonlight to help us see ourselves and our circumstances in new ways each month. The new moon is not visible to us because it is between the sun and the earth. It is the darkest of nights, but it is the start of the cycle and represents birth and new beginnings. The waxing moon reveals a brightening light and represents expansion, growth, and clarity. It represents change while denoting life and death. The face of the full moon is wholly lit by the sun and represents abundance and transformation. The waning moon seems to reduce in size and change shape once more, reducing its light. It represents release and surrender. In earlier times the phases of the moon guided planting and harvest, celebrations and festivals. Mindfully connecting with the stirring beauty and energy of the full moon can connect us with the universe and its rhythms. At the new moon, what might you bring to birth? At the waxing moon, what might you expand in your life? At the half moon, which shadows need your attention? At the waning moon, what needs to be released? In the full moon, where might you cultivate abundance and encourage transformation? The natural rhythms of the sun and the moon may assist us with another of the challenges of healing from grief and loss, which is the way we experience time.
Don't Worry About A Thing
It is as if death disturbs the relationship between past, present, and future and at times we may find it difficult to maintain the distinction. Some moments seem endless, while some days or weeks pass fleetingly. Yesterday can seem like a lifetime ago, while something that happened years ago can seem so fresh. In your grief, are there some times of day that seem easier for you? In your grief, are there some times of day that seem harder for you? What could help you manage your days with more ease? Time can play another trick, too, when our memories and fears overtake reality, drawing us from experiencing the present moment. These experiences of distorted time can affect our energy and our spirit. It may be helpful to think of time as another cycle, each with its own blessings and burdens. I really understood for the first time that all generations die and are replaced by the next. I had a new awareness that this was the natural order of things. Recognizing that human life and death are part of another of nature’s cycles may provide us with some consolation. Across many cultures and civilizations, the ancients made sense of the world around and within them by exploring the elements. The alchemists of the Middle Ages used these elements to refine and create material. While such changes were visible, they also had a metaphysical meaning, and as the elements were purified and combined there were results in both the seen and unseen worlds. Don't Fence Me In
In grief there are also seen and unseen realities, and we may feel absorbed by our own painful and unfamiliar experiences. In healing, we expand our sense of self and connection. In making that connection between personal and universal consciousness, we move beyond our own boundaries into an energy that is shared by all. It lies at the top of the head, where the fontanel was open as a baby, and when it is activated, we are in our highest state, spiritually aware and in flow. With the death of a loved one we can find our spirituality strengthened or disturbed or affected in other ways. Many people regardless of their spirituality may find their confidence and goodwill reduced. In grief, the energy of the crown chakra is reduced, and it may feel hard to live into new possibilities, to dream and create a new life, without our loved one. We may feel that our life has faded. In healing, the energy of the violet chakra can support us in our search for meaning and to imagine and realize our preferred future. Spiritual practises can remind us of our higher selves and our significance in the mystery, restoring a sense of purpose to enrich our lives. This violet energy can help raise our vibration as we find and focus on that which has meaning for us. Position yourself in the shower so that the water flows onto that central spot on the top of your head. One Way Street
You’ll know you’ve found it when you get a little shiver as your whole nervous system is soothed. You might use the full moon each month to commit to healing and draw on the energy of the universe. Light a candle to remember your loved one and sit watching the flame for a few minutes. You might want to visit a church or meditation group, a temple, or a mosque to sit in silence or to participate in their rituals. Visualize a glorious violet colour. Play with it in your imagination until you have the perfect shade for you. Allow that to fill every corner of your mind, every part of your body, especially the head. Wear violet clothing or accessories to remind yourself of the deep need for enlightenment. Connect yourself with that energy as you begin to heal. Use your breath to consciously access your crown chakra, breathing deeply into that space and drawing on the powerful energy of spiritual connection. It calls us to connect with the universal mystery as we heal. Repeat some of these affirmations that confirm your vitality and reconnect your sense of being a creative and sensual being, or add your own. I nourish my spirit. My body, mind, and spirit are one. My spirit connects me to the spirit of everything. I allow the mystery of life to inspire and console me. Reinforce each affirmation by repeating it or saying And so, it is.
