The Diagnoses Don't Explain Anything
What will heal you emotionally will also heal you physically, spiritually and mentally. Out of your thoughts will come your actions. For example, psychologists are finding that many chronic illnesses today arise from never releasing our emotional inner pain. They are manifestations of trauma. Therefore the diagnoses don’t explain anything. The problem in the medical world is that we diagnose somebody and we think that is the explanation. He’s behaving that way because he is psychotic. It’s not a thing that you have. This is a process that expresses your life experience. Maté, our trauma manifests itself in many different ways, especially emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically. I have already discussed how trauma causes you to start to see a distorted, untrue image of yourself. By taking care of yourself holistically, you choose the best path towards finding inner healing.
Hard Feelings
I cannot stress enough how healthy eating is a great way to power your healing journey. Everything is connected in our bodies. You just wouldn’t be able to concentrate. Likewise, if you spent the night before abusing alcohol and eating quite unhealthily, you will only feel sick and unable to concentrate on your affirmations. You may feel fatigued or have a consistent headache because you have not drunk water all day. When we have a bad diet, we shorten our lifespan. We, essentially, damage our bodies, causing trauma to our organs and our cells. Your body only has a limited resource and limited strength, so you want to try not to push it too hard. Instead, you want to continue to renew it with healthy food that brings life. Furthermore, eating healthily is a great way to train your brain. When you train your brain and your body to indulge in healthy foods, you are less likely to be tempted to use food as an escape from your trauma. Food is a drug, and you use it to power your body. Put Blinders On
That means that you do not abuse it. You do not allow anything into your life that can be used to cover up your pain or that can distract you from healing. She explains that the ingredients in your food ultimately become a part of your brain. So, eating a brownie means that it soon becomes a part of your brain. The same mechanism applies to eating some kale or spinach. Like any other food is a tool. You can use it as a crutch to prevent you from making the most of your healing or you can use it as a master tool for unlocking the secrets of your healing. And this leads us to the health benefits of certain foods on the body and on the brain. If you want to have a healthy, happy body and brain, there are certain foods that you can eat to promote that. Eating fries every day, for example, is not going to promote a healthy brain. Turmeric has also been proven to improve mood swings and to work as an antidepressant. Rather than get your dopamine hit from a chocolate cake, for example, you can choose to have a turmeric tea. If There Was Any Other Way
You can already see that by choosing healthy food, you can improve your mental health. Think of it as hacking your brain with the right code to get it to begin to function healthily once more. Indeed, a lack of vitamins in your diet is a surefire way to promote mood disorders and mental illness. You can also decrease your anxiety by consuming food packed with magnesium such as cashews, beet greens, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, quinoa, summer squash, spinach, Swiss chard and almonds. At the same time, you should also cut down on the amount of red meat, sodium and added sweets and sugars that you consume as these are detrimental to your body, your brain health and your mental health and mood. Put simply, the healthier and more varied your diet is, the more you build your brain into a powerhouse, ready to power the rest of your body and make your body strong enough to regulate and improve your emotions and your mental health. You are telling your brain it is time to shape up and join you on your journey of healing. Another way to unlock healing in your brain is through your gut. You will be surprised to learn that your intestines are directly linked to your brain! There is so much going on in your digestive tract, particularly in your intestines. Apart from digesting your food and absorbing nutrients, your intestines actually play a very important role in your mental health. Your gut and your brain are linked, constantly sending messages to each other. Do certain situations make you feel nauseous? Have you ever felt butterflies in your stomach? We use these expressions for a reason. The gastrointestinal tract is sensitive to emotion. A troubled intestine can send signals to the brain, just as a troubled brain can send signals to the gut. Therefore, a person’s stomach or intestinal distress can be the cause or the product of anxiety, stress, or depression. These are called probiotics and prebiotics. Prebiotics are fibers from plant carbohydrates that your body cannot digest. Bad bacteria, on the other hand, thrive on foods like sugar, preservatives, artificial sweeteners and flavor enhancers in processed foods, pesticides, cheap meats and dairy products, antibiotics and acid reflux drugs. Probiotics are a type of bacteria that naturally reside in the intestine. With 70% of your immune system resting in your digestive tract, probiotics keep your immune working efficiently. They also gatekeep what is allowed into your bloodstream. Your digestive tract plays a very important role in your mental health. Those people who have very healthy digestive tracts also boost much healthier emotional and mental states. The healthier your diet is over a consistent period of time, the more you reverse any damages done to your brain from trauma and poor eating habits. Rather than make you feel bad, food makes you feel good.
