Attaining A Better World Today
As we all know, the unfortunate and sobering reality is that human equality does not exist. In fact, given the state of affairs in the world, one could argue that we are rapidly moving in a direction that devalues human life and dignity and undermines the notion of equality. Unfortunately, these crimes against humanity are happening everywhere. No one is shielded from the despair and harm that is inflicted from these heinous acts that destroy our dignity. The one thing humanity has in common as our underlying reality, is a shared space and time, the fact that we are all present and alive in the here and now. We all live under the same stars, sun, and moon. We are all birthed, and someday we will all cease to live in the flesh. No person on this earth is immune to these basic realities of being human. But everyone’s life circumstance is different. However, in those differences there are opportunities and hope for making the world a more just, peaceful, and better place, especially during the era we live in for the sake of our children and future generations. We are all part of one global community of people occupying this planet. For better or for worse, we are a global family.
We All Die Someday
When life is devalued, when individuals are recognized or treated as less than human and lose their dignity, and when our backs are turned to those in need, ultimately we all suffer. There is so much happening in the world it is downright overwhelming to keep track of it all. These societal events have been happening for thousands of years. What is different today, however, is that mass media and technology have converged to magnify these events to such a scale and are bombarded by information about these actions with such frequency and intensity that it is causing us to be overwhelmed, desensitized, and dehumanized. Just as I felt immobilized by the cascade of health crises my family faced in a short window of time, when society is constantly assaulted with Breaking News of a new, bigger, more glorified disaster, people become hardened and unable to focus attention on creating change by finding solutions to healing and contributing other forces of good. Negativity breeds more negativity. It is a big giant snowball that brings with it an avalanche of despair. Many humans have big hearts and with this gift a great capacity to heal those who need help, to forgive those that have caused us harm and to love others as we would want to be loved. Today we are all saddled by living in a society where crisis, tension, and entertainment fueled by negativity is the primary common language by which we communicate. This is also the language we are directly and indirectly teaching our kids. As a diverse group of people bound by space and time, we are first just trying our best to survive, let alone thrive as individuals. However, it is more than possible for every person on this earth to be thriving and living a life of dignity. The Pain To Seem Purposeful
How to make it possible for every person on this planet to thrive is not a goal exclusively addressed by economics. All people suffer, if not today, then at some point in our lifetime. If we simply recognize that we share a common humanity, that we are all in this together, we can put our shared intellect to the task to solve almost any problem. Together we can rise to accomplish this if we give respect to each person’s dignity. There is only one you. Take pride in who you are. Take care of feeding your mind, body, and soul. You are at your best when your personality and energy can shine. Give thanks and show gratitude to others and for life in general. Other people, even the nastiest ones, have a heart. In more cases than not, other people are going through a lot of emotional, physical, and spiritual change and upheaval. Be aware and empathetic to others, no matter their disposition. Things Aren't Always Easy
It takes a great deal of diplomacy and effort to be a better person or the best you. Very seldom will you be chastised for being truthful, authentic, and compassionate. Being sincere, kind, and unpretentious is an indication of true strength and love. Value all life and living matter. Respect and celebrate differences and diversity. The world and universe are enormous. We have only scratched the surface of understanding life and its origins. We are part of a complex and interrelated system of matter and intelligence spread across space and time. Earth is a physical boundary, which encapsulates an abundance of life within. We know deep within our souls that we are connected, somehow and in some way, to an intelligence that envelops Earth, yet far supersedes our current ability to comprehend the essence of life. Until we can unequivocally value each other and all life on Earth, we will remain compromised and limited in our ability to attain any understanding of a higher intelligence and certainty beyond our known reality on Earth. We will be too trapped by our beliefs, judgments, and behaviors. Humanity operates at its highest intelligence when it recognizes that all living things are interconnected, part of a shared system, and to be cherished. Aim to be adventurous, inquisitive, and creative. Your time and that of those you hold most precious to you is too limited not to set your goal to live life to the fullest and enjoy your time with those you love, who are your driving force. Do not allow negative people to push you around, corrupt your soul, or persuade you to do or be anything you do not want. You are the steward of your mind, body, and soul. You are in charge at all times. It is up to you, in every situation, to rise to your greatest self, to be an advocate for you, and to take full ownership over your life and destiny.
