Who Are You Trying To Model?
There may be different people or things you do that have been habits, or you may call them traditions. You need to become aware of these and start questioning why using the belief reset process. Because if you can’t give yourself permission, how else will other people give you permission? Living our lives as a child trying to not get hurt. When you say it like that, it sounds a little crazy right? Well, that’s the truth. One of the things you really want to work out is how you can step into your identity. And it may require you to create a new identity for yourself. And a lot of us never had the chance to create an identity because our identities got forged or created for us because of what happened in our childhood. Or because of the people around us during our childhood. Most identities and beliefs are set in a child by age seven. That means all of the actions you did or didn’t take when you were a young child determined your current beliefs. I remember as a young child we were in a hotel parking lot. We’re waiting to leave this hotel because we’re on a family vacation.
A Rush Of Blood To The Head
And I was goofing around with my brothers. You know, those flat shopping trolleys that you can carry luggage with. We were goofing around on one of those trolleys. We were pushing each other around the parking garage because there were three cars in this entire garage. Were young boys and we were riding around, standing on it, and using it like a skateboard. And I can remember that there was a little old lady down towards the elevator who started yelling at us. And for some reason, I turned this experience into a belief. Can you guess what the belief was? It became I can’t have fun and enjoy myself, otherwise, I’ll get in trouble. So if I don’t want to get in trouble, I can’t have fun and enjoy life. So for the longest time in my life, we’d go out and do things that were fun. And I’d find myself resisting, not enjoying it. Failing to experience true joy in moments because some little old lady might yell at me. Isn't It A Pity
I would put off going on vacation. Even when I was walking around Disney, I would find myself not smiling! Disney is meant to be the happiest place on earth. I would rather work than take time off. Because time off meant I was having fun. I would rather be working than spending time with my family and enjoying ourselves. Because if I enjoyed myself, I’d get in trouble and someone would yell at me. You may think, well, Ben, that sounds pretty stupid. I’m like, yeah, it’s a stupid belief. And we’ve all got them. And I had it because some lady yelled at me when I was about six years old, something as simple as that. Caused me to create a belief that stopped me from enjoying life. I carried this belief and let it control me for 25 years. Innocent Times
A lot of our core beliefs are completely crazy and stupid. And one of the things you want to think about is what are the beliefs I have? When you sit down at your phone, what beliefs do you have? How do you feel emotionally? What habits or thoughts do you have? Or if you’ve got a headset when you’re at the computer? What beliefs do you have? How do you feel emotionally? What habits or thoughts do you have? What’s the persona that you put on? Are you putting on the needy salesman who has a hard time closing and getting stuck on objections? Or are you putting on the identity like Clark Kent or Superman puts on identity and allows you to go, you know what, I can successfully connect with people and identify opportunities to help them unlock exactly what they want. No objection scares me because they can all be answered. By identifying with personality types you can transform your communication. When you create an identity that you can step into. It allows you to take on that persona and pull it in. Like how I dealt with all of my phone calls when I’m in sales. J.P is so good at what he does his name is just initials. I put on this persona, this identity of someone who’s confident, someone who’s got empathy. Someone who connects with people, someone who makes people laugh, and someone who’s not afraid to ask top dollar for the services they offer. Because they can identify and find opportunities. Opportunities of a lifetime every single day of the week. And when I’m in that persona, I look for and find opportunities of a lifetime every single day of the week. So one of the things I challenge you to do is define Your Sales Identity. Every sales identity can also have a villain because your villain sits there to rob you of success. Your villain’s constantly trying to sabotage you. One of the things you want to do is take the name of your villain, minimize it and add humor. My villain, I call Mikey. Mikey is this tiny little guy who sounds like a chipmunk and wears a tutu skirt and Mikey sitting there trying to keep me from achieving my success. Mikey is constantly doing this like trying to keep me stuck in procrastination. Mikey would rather I get stuck watching Netflix or scrolling social media. Mikey doesn’t want me to do what’s most important. Mikey wants me to relax and have a glass of wine. Mikey is happy thinking about the deal that might close. Rather than closing the deal and getting the money in the bank. Mikey also likes to spend money that’s not in the bank yet. Mikey is an expensive little guy who wants the latest and shiniest toys for his fragile little ego.
